RESEARCH INTERESTS

Kinetics of phase transitions as applied to the processing, and synthesis of single crystals of intermetallics alloys including solid-liquid phase equilibria and solid-solid phase interactions.  Recent interests include synthesis and processing of complex intermetallics such as quasicrystalline and approximant phases, shape memory and ferromagnetic shape memory alloys, magnetic alloys exhibiting extraordinary magnetoelastic and magnetocaloric responses and ductile rare-earth intermetallic compounds.
